Combined Graduate Level Examination - Physical Standards

A. Physical standard for the posts of Inspector (Central Excise) and Inspector (Preventive Officer), Inspector (Examiner):

Candidates will have to satisfy the following minimum physical standards, failing which, they will not be eligible for appointment.

(a) Inspector (Central Excise)/Inspector (Preventive Officer)/Inspector (Examiner) (Male Candidates)

(i) Physical Standards (Minimum)

Physical standards (Minimum) Height: 157.5 cms. and Chest: 81 cms (fully expanded with minimum expansion of 5 cms) Height relaxable by 5 cms. in the case of Garhwalis, Assamese, Gorkhas and members of Scheduled Tribes.

(ii) Physical Test:

Walking: 1600 metres in 15 minutes.

Cycling: 8 Kms. In 30 minutes.

(b) Inspector (Central Excise)/Inspector (Preventive Officer)/Inspector (Examiner) (Female Candidates)

(i) Physical standards (Minimum)

Height 152 cms. Weight 48 Kgs Height relaxable by 2.5 cms and weight relaxable by 2 kgs in the case of Garhwalis, Assamese, Gorkhas and members of Scheduled Tribes.

(ii) Physical Test

Walking: 1 Km. in 20 minutes.

Cycling: 3 Kms. in 25 minutes.

The Physical Test for candidates will be conducted by the Central Excise Department/Custom House, as the case may be, for the above categories of posts after their names are recommended for appointment by the Commission.

Candidates are, therefore, advised to make sure before opting for these categories of posts that they fulfill the requirements as detailed above, failing which they will not be considered for appointment to these posts as well as any other category of posts covered under this examination.

B. Physical Requirements for the posts of Sub-Inspectors in Central Bureau of Investigation (C.B.I.)

(a) Height

For men - 165 cms.

For women - 150 cms.

Height relaxable for Hillsmen and Tribals: 5 cms.

(b) Chest:

76 cms. with expansion (there shall be no such requirement in case of female candidates)

(c) Vision:

Eye-sight (with or without glasses):

Distant vision: 6/6 in one and 6/9 in the other eye.

Near vision: 0.6 in one eye and 0.8 in other eye.

The physical measurements (including vision test) for candidates will be conducted by the indenting Department (Central Bureau of Investigation) after their names are recommended for appointment by the Commission.

Only those candidates who fulfill the above specified physical measurements (including vision test) will be eligible for the post of Sub-Inspector in CBI.

Candidates are, therefore, advised to make sure before opting for this category of post that they fulfill the requirements as detailed above, failing which they will not be considered for appointment to this post as well as any other category of posts covered under this examination.

Note: No request from candidates for allotting to any other service/category of post will be entertained by the Commission if the nominated candidate fails to meet the physical requirements of the posts as specified above.
