National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes and Narcotics (NACIN)
NACIN
The National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes & Narcotics (NACIN) is an apex institution under CBIC for imparting training in the field of indirect Taxes administration and Narcotics interdiction. It uses faculty, both in-house and departmental as well as national arid international guest faculty to impart training to the departmental officers of various grades, including IRS (C&CE) Officers. NACIN also coordinates and collaborates with other Indian as well as International institutions. Besides, it has been associated with other government departments of centre and various States in multi-faceted manner in spreading expertise in various fields including that of national security. NACEN also functions as regional training center for World Customs Organization, United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and United Nation Office for Drug and Crime for Training in Drug interdiction and associated matters, NACIN is also an official training center for Customs Officers of the Royal Government of Bhutan. Overall, NACIN has been assigned the following tasks by the CBIC
:
(a) to import training to direct recruits and to arrange refresher courses for departmental officers;
(b) to assist In formulation of training policies and to implement the policies approved by the Board by devising schemes and syllabi of studies for training of direct recruits and departmental officers; and
(c) to arrange study tours of Customs and excise officers from neighboring countries under United Nations Development Programme.
Performance of NACIN
NACIN with its meager staff strength has been conducting various courses and training programmes including Refresher and Specialized Courses, for officers and staff regularly. Following data indicates the courses conducted by the Academy during last four years:
